Who we are

Khami Aughterson is SKL Legal’s Principal Lawyer. She graduated in law from CDU with first class honours and was recipient of the Supreme Court Medal.

Khami has over 25 years’ experience in the legal industry across higher education, government, non-government and the private sector. She has extensive experience in the development of legislative, governance and strategic reform and has been a sessional lecturer in business and family law. Khami is a strong advocate in the community as a board member of various community organisations for over 30 years and is currently Chair of the NT Working Womens’ Centre. In recognition of her longstanding contribution in the community, Khami was awarded joint winner of the Fitzgerald Human Rights Diversity Award 2024 in the NT.

Having established SKL Legal in 2023, Khami is drawing together her strong legal problem-solving skills and experience, offering legal services in the areas of family law, migration law and wills and estates.

Khami is passionate about assisting seniors and people who are newly resident in Australia from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and she incorporates a trauma informed practice.

Khami enjoys being in nature, often taking photos of birds and running with her kelpie Meisje. She has three children to her husband Ned, six step grandchildren and many pets.
